In February 2011, a relatively unknown band from Jamaica entered the Global Battle of the Bands competition. By the time the finals ended in Malaysia that year, the Dub Tonic Kru was voted the best new band in the world for the years 2010-2011. Eleven years later the band continued to shine on the music scene, with multiple awards, in spite of having gone through several personnel changes. This is primarily because band leader and founding member Jubba White have stayed focus on the thing that made them the best band in the world in 2011 – playing great, authentic reggae music.

His consistency as song writer, artist and producer has allowed him to carve out his own space on digital music distribution platforms such as ITunes, Amazon and Tidal.  His production company – White Stone Productions is creating a major buzz in the reggae music industry. Songs on the White Stone label are distributed by Tuff Gong International out of Kingston, Jamaica.

Juba White

In 2016 White began working on a project based on a single song tiled – You Got Me Going On, which he actually wrote in 2006. The song was re-mastered and released late in 2016. After the release, the new Rhythm (Riddim) took on a life of its own, leading to the production and release of a compilation CD during the “music quiet” period of the recent pandemic.

The project titled – YOU, is a celebration to modern Lovers Rock and include several veteran Jamaican acts, plus an international cast of new reggae artists. White describes the project as “something extra special for all lovers – allowing them to celebrate love “like every day is Valentine Day”. The CD is actually an advance look and feel of the future of the music industry as genre fluidity becomes the norm. The artists on the project were carefully selected to provide a cross-genre product that matches the way most listeners use music today.

The CD presents eight versions of the single done with each artist adding his/her own unique flavor. The international cast on the project include: Jubba White, vocalist, musician and producer (Jamaica); veteran female reggae vocalist – Twiggi (Jamaica); Alekey Marshall (Kenya), Dez Irie (St. Louis, MO), Stephanie Nicole (Canadian), Paola Perri (Italy), Lucie Chiquet (France), Zahira (Canadian), Jah Guidance (Trinidad & Tobago) and Stashka (Poland). The showcase of talents on this album is truly unprecedented. The track listing on YOU is as follows:

1. Twiggi – “You Got Me Going On”

2. Alekey Marshal – “You Got Me Going On”

3. Jubba White (feat. Zahira) – “You Got Me Going On”
